He had a Double Barrel Shotfun and a $120 horse on enlistment. Detailed as guard at Bentonville, AR in Oct 1861. Transferred to Company E, 4th Cavalry Battalion by order of Col Stone between Jan 1862. Transferred actually to Jack Wharton's Company E, 6th Texas Cavalry on 28 February 1862. Sick and died on way to general hospital 5 June 1862 probably of flu. This event was described in Griscom's diary, Adjatant of the 9th Texas Cavalry on that day.
